The IMA Group

The IMA Group designs and manufactures automatic machines for processing and packaging pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, food, tea, coffee and numerous other products. Founded in 1961 in Bologna by Andrea Romagnoli, the company began as a small engineering workshop and is now headquartered in Ozzano dell'Emilia, Bologna. Its stated founding principle is to invest in technologies that improve quality of life, widen access to effective medications, reduce food waste and respect the environment.

The group employs more than 6,900 people, over 2,600 of them working internationally. It operates 54 production plants, 30 branches in key markets and a network of more than 140 agencies. Its geographic presence spans Italy, Germany, France, Switzerland, Spain, the United Kingdom, the United States, India, Malaysia, China and Argentina.

Technical work centres on industrial automation, packaging technology, machine design and processing machinery. The company holds more than 1,700 patents and patent applications, and more than 500 designers are dedicated to product innovation. Relevant industry verticals include pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, food, tea, coffee, packaging and manufacturing automation.
