CoxHealth

A not-for-profit health system running six hospitals and more than 100 clinics across 25 southwest Missouri counties.

CoxHealth is a not-for-profit health system serving a 25-county region in southwest Missouri. It operates six hospitals in Springfield, Branson, Monett and Lamar, alongside a network of more than 100 outpatient clinics. Together these facilities handle nearly 2 million clinic visits and over 41,000 surgeries a year, with emergency departments running 24/7. Nurses work across hospital and acute care, primary care, emergency medicine, surgery and specialised medical services.

The system employs more than 14,000 people, including physicians, nurse practitioners and physician assistants, supported by over 600 volunteers. Its footprint has expanded considerably over time: from 500 employees in the 1960s to its present scale, contributing more than $1.3 billion to the regional economy each year.

Its origins trace to Burge Deaconess Hospital, a 25-bed hospital opened on donated property on Thanksgiving Day 1906. CoxHealth describes itself as mission-driven, with values grounded in safety, respect and integrity, and a stated commitment to improving community health through compassionate care.
